Lorelei of the Lake - located just feet away from majestic Lake Superior on legendary Cascade Beach Road, "Lorelei" is the perfect property for all seasons. Comprised of a 2 bedroom main cabin and 1 bedroom guest cabin, this property was completely renovated in 2021. And while it has all the amenities you'd expect from a new project, the renovation stayed true to classic Minnesota cabin architecture and will take you back in time.
The 2 bedroom main cabin has a wonderful open floor plan that features a combined gathering room/kitchen area with a wood-burning fieldstone fireplace for those often chilly nights (fire wood included of course!!). It features classic Minnesota aged pine walls and ceilings, painted hardwood floors, a lakeside master bedroom with a queen sized bed and a guest bedroom with a queen bed and single built-in bed nook. The bathroom is also newly remodeled with new cabinetry, stone countertops, fixtures, and a tile shower. The main gathering area features a built-in game/puzzle table, a wood burning fieldstone fireplace, along with rustic, yet comfortable, furniture and sitting areas for a rainy day or movie night! The kitchen is well equipped for the chef of the family with new appliances, high end dishware, small appliances, and cutlery. But the highlight of the cabin is picturesque Lake Superior, which is located only 30’ lakeward from the cabin. The gradual elevation to the lake allows for fun exploration along the rocky shoreline, and includes a lakeside firepit and an expansive lakeside deck for morning coffee or outside dining.
The guest cabin is equally quaint, also newly remodeled, and furnished “to the nines”. In addition to the queen bed, there is a daybed (single) with a trundle underneath (also single) to accommodate 4 guests in the guest cottage. Other features include a Jotul gas fireplace, a small “coffee bar”, a small table for cards, breakfast, or coffee, and a newly renovated bathroom with new cabinetry, stone countertops, fixtures, and a tile shower.
For those that need to stay connected, Lorelei also includes lightning fast High Speed Wi-Fi throughout the structures and a high definition Smart TV in the main cabin for streaming shows and movies.
This property is perfect for a family, an extended family, or a couple families; we have a strict limit of 9 occupants. There are 3 Queen beds (1 per bedroom) and 3 single beds. We do keep our calendar updated at all times and so if you are seeing availability then it’s likely available. Upon reservation confirmation you'll receive a complete 'what to bring' list in advance so you are prepared for your time up north. And feel free to inquire with any questions you may have and we’ll be prompt to reply! We pride ourselves on keeping our property and structures/equipment pristine and are certain we'll exceed your expectations in that regard.
Lorelei is perfectly located northeast of the town of Lutsen about 3 miles, and southwest of Grand Marais by 14 miles. For those planning to ski, the Gondola at Lutsen Mountain is 6 miles away. For those looking to snowmobile, you can jump on the main trail less than 1 mile from the cabin. And for the hikers there are literally dozens of world class hiking trails located with 10 miles. And for the wanderers in the group the towns of Grand Marais, Lutsen, Tofte, and Schroeder are filled with fun shops and galleries to explore. Lorelei and the North Shore Area is wonderful in all 4 seasons.

Summary: Lorelai is a perfect spot on Lake Superior...just a short drive to everything in Grand Marais. House is wonderfully furnished and owners were extremely helpful with suggestions for the area, etc. Loved our stay!

Summary: We had a wonderful stay at Lorelei! The rooms and bed arrangements in the two cabins were great for our family of 4 and Grammie and Grandpa. Being so close to the lake was a huge highlight and could even fall asleep to the sound of the waves at night. The high quality finishes and furnishings helped the not-so-outdoorsy family members enjoy North Shore adventures without having to rough it 😊 Communication with the property managers was excellent.

Summary: our group is 70 ++ so with that said we enjoyed sitting on the deck watching the waves, having a fire in the fireplace, the ease of cooking in the kitchen and overall, just relaxing.

Summary: The location of this cabin is perfect. Absolutely perfect. We fully enjoyed our stay. The cabin is very comfortable and had everything we needed and then some. We enjoyed the sunrise in the morning and fire pits in the evening. We saw otters swimming right in front of the property which was so fun and unexpected. Would love to return someday.

Summary: Our entire family (6 adults, 2 kids 5 and under) stayed in the large and small cabin at Lorelei for 6 days. They are both charming, very clean and very well appointed (great beds), with just the right amenities. We all loved it, even on the rainy days when we built fires in the fireplace, worked on jigsaw puzzles, read books. It’s close to awesome hiking and state parks and we highly recommend!

Summary: Overall, property was among most clean and well stocked as any rental I’ve stayed at. Beds were comfortable as well. We had one small hiccup at check in that was resolved quickly by the owner. Also, there were a lot of mosquitos in the house that we couldn’t figure out where they were getting in. Great property and weekend though!

Summary: This was a magical stay for our group of friends. The hosts provided easy communication, a welcome feel, and were very accommodating. The place itself is complete with every coze decor and every appliance/accommodation you could think of for a comfortable stay (including a grill, KitchenAid, and popcorn popper!). A short drive from Lutsen mountain, we spent our sunny day exploring the beautiful foliage. The other two days of our trip rained nonstop, but since the cabin was so comfortable and cozy with a spectacular view right on the water, we didn't feel like we were missing out at all! We just opened the windows to hear the loud, crashing waves outside and played many of the available boardgames by the indoor fire. Thank you for a wonderful stay!

Summary: We loved staying at the Lorelei cabins! We had two couples and it was so nice for each of us to have our own cabins that were so well appointed! The kitchen had everything we needed. We cooked all meals at the cabin day. We utilized the grill on the deck and the fire pit. We loved having the fire pit within feet of the lake. We enjoyed sitting on the deck and soaking up the autumn sun while gazing at the lake and relaxing. Having all the firewood we needed was so wonderful. This property is centrally located to everything we needed included hiking and riding trails. We will definitely be back to stay again! Thank you for sharing your beautiful property with us!
